    DESCRIPTION

Make your best friend stand out and turn heads at the dog park with a durable, stylish collar. Our durable solid brass collar hardware features a silent ID tag and a no-squeeze collar closure, meaning jams and jangles are a thing of the past.

*Size S in our special light-coat hardware finish has now sold out.
We do have Size S available in natural brass. Natural brass may leave a faint mark on very light coats, but it’s completely harmless and will wash out easily.

**If your dog has white or very light fur, note natural brass hardware can develop a patina over time. It’s part of what makes it beautiful, but it can sometimes leave a faint mark on pale coats (it washes out easily). If you’d rather avoid that, just email us — we have a few light-finish options set aside for you.

Flat and fatter D-ring - for easier, fumble-free lead clipping.

Streamlined not bulky - No extra bulk, no strap tails — a flush fit that matters more when you’re little.

    CARE | MATERIALS

Collar: Marine-grade polypropylene webbing — strong, soft, fast-drying

Care: Hand wash in warm soapy water and hang to dry. Suitable for occasional machine washing — just pop it in a delicates bag to protect the hardware and your washing machine. The leather tab may soften and lighten slightly over time.

    Hardware: Solid brass.

Care: Solid brass hardware naturally develops a rich patina over time. Like all natural brass, it may occasionally leave a temporary mark on very light coats that washes out easily. If desired, the hardware can be cleaned with brass cream, taking care to avoid the webbing.

    5 YEAR GUARANTEE

Covers defects in materials or workmanship for 5 years from purchase.
Just send the collar back with your name and order date — no need to register.
If it fails under regular use, we’ll repair or replace it free of charge.
Patina and normal wear are not covered — they’re part of the charm.

    PRESENTATION MATTERS

Textured brown stock, matte black interior — more timepiece than dog collar presentation. Perfect for that one person who has everything and adores their dog more than most people. Not your average unboxing moment. They’ll think you’re a genius. And yes — you’ll be very, very popular.

    SAFETY

Our collars are designed for quick, easy removal — which we recommend when dogs are indoors, crated, unsupervised, or wrestling with friends.

While the silent tag removes one hazard, collars can still catch on things you’d never expect: a roller blind chain, a floorboard nail, even another dog’s tooth. If they can’t free themselves, it can become dangerous fast. Always keep an eye on your dog — and when in doubt, take it off.

“We bought a striped collar for our Tibetan Terrier and it is awesome, awesome, awesome! Beautiful quality, easy to clasp and attach the lead to—and Cooper looks devastatingly handsome!”

    ANDREA

    DESIGNED TO BE LOVED

Beyond our signature stripes, thoughtful details make every Subwoofer collar decidedly different.

    EASY ON, EASY OFF

    Looks clever. Works even better.
Our smooth slip design slides on in seconds — no clicks, no pinched fingers, no parts to jam.
Easier than a plastic snap, simpler than a traditional buckle.

    BUILT TO LAST

Made with high-quality, premium materials, every Subwoofer dog collar
is guaranteed to look sharp for at least five years.

    EXCLUSIVE WEBBING. ENGINEERED TO PERFORM.

Woven just for us using marine grade Spanish polypropylene yarn — the same used on yachts. It doesn’t absorb water like nylon, so it dries faster, resists mildew, and won’t trap smells. Lighter, softer, and built for harsh conditions. A quick wash, and it’s back to new.

    SOLID BRASS. AGES BEAUTIFULLY.

Made in New Zealand using our registered design, our solid brass hardware is carefully de-burred and polished until beautifully smooth. Left in its natural state, it develops a rich patina over time.

    ENGRAVE TO ENDURE

Typical laser engraving leaves a shallow mark that can fade over time. Our tags are cut from solid 2mm brass, allowing a master engraver to carve each name deeply by hand. The result is clear, permanent, and made to be kept.

    5-YEAR GUARANTEE

Every collar is backed by our five-year guarantee. Made for years of everyday adventures, with quality you can rely on.

“Just received Odin's leash and collar, what can I say!! Wow!!
Gorgeous colours and workmanship, totally worth the investment. Odin is loving the attention.
    Thanks so much. "

    THE STORY BEHIND OUR COLLAR

Subwoofer began with Monkey — a tiny black-and-tan bandito who stole my heart mid-pandemic. Like most dog people, I wanted only the best for her — but nothing quite got it right. One collar was stylish but seized at the beach, another was practical but soulless.

So - the subwoofer collar was born, blending what worked, leaving what didn’t, and elevating the rest. Inspired by vintage timepieces and built for daily wear, it’s a collar that rethinks the ordinary: comfortable, quick to release, and quietly beautiful.

Made in New Zealand, in small batches, with materials and craftsmanship we’re proud of and tested by Monkey herself.

    FAQs

WHAT SIZE COLLAR SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Your dog’s neck measurement is the best place to start. Weight and breed can be useful guides, but dogs come in many different shapes and proportions.

Our collars fit the following neck measurements:

    • Tiny: 20–30 cm | 8–12 in
      14 mm webbing
    • Small: 22–40 cm | 8¾–15¾ in
      20 mm webbing
    • Large: 34–60 cm | 13½–23½ in
      35 mm webbing

Visit our Size Guide for measuring instructions, fitting advice and breed examples.

Still unsure? Get in touch—we’d much rather help you choose the right size than have you order the wrong one.

    WHAT MAKES SUBWOOFER COLLARS DIFFERENT?

We approach a Subwoofer collar more like a vintage timepiece than an ordinary pet accessory: timeless, understated and considered down to the smallest detail.

Our Signature Stripes are woven exclusively for us, the interlocking buckle is made from solid brass, and the built-in ID tag keeps your dog’s details quiet and streamlined. Marine grade webbing makes the collar soft, lightweight and ready for everyday adventures, while small-batch Auckland production gives every piece the attention it deserves.

Nothing is accidental and the comment we hear most often is, “Someone stopped us to ask where we got the collar.”

WHY DO SUBWOOFER COLLARS COST MORE?

Because they genuinely cost more to make. Each piece of solid-brass hardware passes through more than ten hours of cutting, stamping, de-burring, polishing, inspection and sealing—a final process that helps preserve its colour and protect against tarnishing.

Our exclusive marine-grade webbing is UV-stable, soft, lightweight and easy to clean. Every collar is then assembled and sewn locally in small batches by skilled Auckland craftspeople paid fair New Zealand rates.

It’s these quiet, deliberate details you notice the moment you pick up a Subwoofer collar.

YOUR COLLARS LOOK HEAVY. ARE THEY?

Not at all. Solid brass gives our collars their substantial appearance, but each size is carefully proportioned for the dogs it’s designed to fit.

Tiny: 28 g — about the weight of one AA battery
Small: 54 g — a little more than one golf ball
Large: 110 g — a little more than two golf balls

The Tiny is roughly half the weight of the Small, which is roughly half the weight of the Large. The result is a collar that feels beautifully made in your hand while remaining properly balanced for comfortable everyday wear.

THE BUCKLE LOOKS COMPLICATED. IS IT DIFFICULT TO USE?

Not at all. It may feel unfamiliar at first, but the simple twist-and-insert motion becomes second nature after one or two tries.

Its smooth interlocking design is also kind to long coats, with no prongs or buckle tongue to catch and pull fur. Inspired by vintage life-jacket buckles, it has no enclosed springs or plastic clips for sand and salt to jam.

It looks different because it is different—but once the movement clicks, it’s remarkably easy to use.

YOUR COLLARS LOOK TOO GOOD FOR MUDDY WALKS AND THE BEACH. ARE THEY?

Not at all. They’re designed to look beautiful and cope with real life. The solid-brass buckle uses a simple interlocking design inspired by vintage life jackets, with no buttons or enclosed spring mechanisms for salt and sand to jam.

The marine-grade polypropylene webbing absorbs very little water, dries quickly and is made for muddy walks, swimming and days at the beach. Unlike conventional webbing, it is highly resistant to fading from salt water and sun exposure—and guaranteed against fading for five years. It will certainly get dirty, but give it a wash and it comes up beautifully.

ARE SUBWOOFER COLLARS SUITABLE FOR PUPPIES?

Absolutely. Our collars are lightweight, comfortable and adjustable, making them well suited to a growing puppy.

We recommend waiting until your puppy comes home before ordering, as neck size can be surprisingly difficult to predict. If you’d prefer to be organised, ask your breeder for an up-to-date neck measurement shortly before collection.

A correctly fitted collar should allow two fingers to fit snugly between the collar and your puppy’s neck. Check the fit frequently—puppies grow quickly and may eventually need to move into a larger size or wider collar.

If you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll help you choose.

WHY IS THE ID TAG DESIGNED THIS WAY?

Our integrated ID tag sits neatly against the collar, so there’s nothing dangling to jangle on walks, clatter against food bowls or catch during play. It also gives the collar its clean, streamlined appearance.

The 2 mm solid-brass tag can be deeply engraved by hand on both sides. Most owners fit their dog’s name and contact number on one side, with a second number or registration details on the other. Additional engraving may incur a small charge.

The tag is removable, too. It can be transferred to another Subwoofer collar of the same width, or replaced if your contact details change—without replacing the entire collar.

WHY DO YOU RECOMMEND HAND ENGRAVING INSTEAD OF LASER ENGRAVING?

Because lasers just don’t cut it. Our master engraver carves each character deeply into our substantial 2 mm solid-brass tags, creating wider, bolder lettering on both sides. Unlike a surface laser mark, which can wear away over time, deep engraving helps your dog’s details remain clear and easy to read for years.

Every character is engraved individually, so subtle variations in letter shape, spacing, depth and alignment are part of its handcrafted charm—and make every tag unique. If you prefer a perfectly uniform, machine-finished result, choose a plain tag and arrange laser engraving instead.

Hand engraving is completely optional, but worth it for the character, craftsmanship and clarity.

WHAT DOES THE FIVE -YEAR COLLAR GUARANTEE COVER?

Your collar is guaranteed for five years against faults in the webbing, stitching or solid-brass hardware. If something fails because of a problem with the materials or workmanship, get in touch and we’ll assess it, then repair or replace it where appropriate.

The guarantee doesn’t cover accidental damage, chewing or normal wear and tear, including scratches, eventual tarnishing and other cosmetic changes.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY COLLAR?

For everyday dirt, simply rinse your collar by hand in fresh water and leave it to air dry. If it needs a more thorough freshen-up, it can be machine washed occasionally—around once a month is plenty.

Place the collar inside a sock, then put it in a mesh laundry bag and wash it with plenty of towels. This cushions the solid-brass hardware, protecting both the collar and your washing machine while allowing the webbing to come up beautifully clean.

Always leave it to dry naturally and never put it in the dryer, as high heat can damage the polypropylene webbing.
