    This fast-drying, fade-free poly propylene webbing is woven exclusively for Subwoofer in our signature stripes. Marine-grade and resistant to mould, odour, and daily wear.

    Solid brass, treated or untreated hardware - Treated on light-fur styles to stay golden with no upkeep. Untreated on darker-fur styles for a natural patina over time.

    Jam-free slip-clasp closure - A unique, fail-safe mechanism that’s easy to use and designed to prevent finger pinching or fur pulling.

    Collar: Marine-grade polypropylene webbing — strong, soft, fast-drying

    Care: Hand wash in warm soapy water and hang to dry. Suitable for occasional machine washing — just pop it in a delicates bag to protect the hardware and your washing machine. The leather tab may soften and lighten slightly over time.

    Hardware: Solid brass.

    Care: Solid brass hardware — naturally develops a patina over time but our light-fur version has a protective finish to retain its golden tone and reduce maintenance.
    Light-fur version has a protective finish — wipe clean only. The natural version can be carefully cleaned with brass cream, avoiding webbing.

    Our collars are designed for quick, easy removal — which we recommend when dogs are indoors, crated, unsupervised, or wrestling with friends.

    While the silent tag removes one hazard, collars can still catch on things you’d never expect: a roller blind chain, a floorboard nail, even another dog’s tooth. If they can’t free themselves, it can become dangerous fast. Always keep an eye on your dog — and when in doubt, take it off.

    Woven just for us using marine-grade Spanish polypropylene yarn — the same used on yachts. It doesn’t absorb water like nylon, so it dries faster, resists mildew, and won’t trap smells. Lighter, softer, and built for harsh conditions. A quick wash, and it’s back to new.

    SOLID BRASS. ZERO MAINTENANCE.

    Our hardware is solid brass—cut, stamped, and polished here in New Zealand using our own registered design. Each piece spends over ten hours being de-burred and polished until perfectly smooth and soft to the touch. Depending whether your pup has dark or light fur we leave the brass untreated for a natural patina over time or apply a final proprietary sealing finish, more commonly used in premium tapware. This step protects light fur from marks, and keeps every collar looking freshly polished with minimal upkeep.

    Most ID tags are laser-etched on thin aluminium — shallow marks that fade with time. But your dog’s name deserves better.

    Subwoofer began with Monkey — a tiny black-and-tan bandito who stole my heart mid-pandemic. Like most dog people, I wanted only the best for her — but nothing quite got it right. One collar was stylish but seized at the beach, another was practical but soulless.

    So - the subwoofer collar was born, blending what worked, leaving what didn’t, and elevating the rest. Inspired by vintage timepieces and built for daily wear, it’s a collar that rethinks the ordinary: comfortable, quick to release, and quietly beautiful.

    WHY DO SUBWOOFER COLLARS COST MORE?

    Most 'designer' collars are mass-produced overseas with cheap components, cheap labour, a logo slapped on, and shipped worldwide with big mark-ups. Subwoofer collars take the opposite path.

    Each piece of solid brass hardware spends over ten hours travelling from cutting and stamping to de-burring, polishing, inspection, and a final sealing process that alone costs more than many mass-produced collars — locking in colour and protecting against tarnish for years, not months. Our exclusive webbing is marine-grade, UV-stable, and built to outlast nylon or leather. It won’t fade, fray, stretch, or soak up smells. Lighter, softer, and tougher by design, it’s easy to clean and made to go the distance. Finally, every collar is sewn locally by Auckland craftspeople paid fair Kiwi rates.

    WHAT SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

    Check our Size Guide for measurements, fit tips, and breed examples — or get in touch if you’re unsure. Our collars come in three sizes for roughly these weights:

    Tiny — for dogs under 5kg
    Small — for dogs 5–20kg
    Large — for dogs 20–40kg

    WHY DOES HAND ENGRAVING MATTER?

    Because lasers just don’t cut it. Our Master Engraver carves each tag by hand with wider, deeper lettering that won’t fade or rub off. It’s an old-school craft that suits our solid 2mm tags, with enough room for bold, easy-to-read lettering on both sides. Optional, but worth it for charm and clarity.

    WHAT SIGNATURE STRIPE WILL SUIT MY DOG?

    We suggest a coat colour match at the top of each page to help narrow it down — but of course, it’s just a starting point. The best choice is the one you love on your dog.

    WILL IT SURVIVE A SWAMPY PACK WALK?

    Yes — just place it in a washing bag and machine wash with similar colours. The webbing handles it beautifully. The leather tab prefers less frequent washing — once a month is plenty. For heavy wear, consider rotating collars: one for everyday, one for best.
