    DESCRIPTION

Training just got more stylish. Designed for training recall, or for the very independent, adventurous and strong willed.

    FEATURES

Training ready: Long lines are designed for training recall. One end attaches to your dog’s collar or harness, the other does not have a handle to reduce the risk of snagging.
    Lighter:
We use a lighter-weight polypropylene webbing for our long lines, which creates less drag - something that is helpful when you’re small.

Quality materials: Our leads have a leather tab , heavy-duty durable polypropylene webbing, and solid brass swivel hooks to minimise twisting.

Long-lasting: It’s hard-wearing, fade-resistant, easy to clean, and quick to dry.

Exclusive webbing: Our signature stripes are lighter weight. Proudly made in New Zealand, Licence 807556

    DIMENSIONS

OS: 7m long, 2cm webbing, 15.5cm Leather Tab and Swivel hook.

Note for Tiny Dogs: This 7 m long line uses the same 15.5 cm leather tab + swivel hook as our standard leads. It is not suitable for toy breeds or dogs under 5 kg (e.g. Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, Toy Poodles). The length and weight of a 7m line are too much for very small dogs to manage safely.

    CARE | MATERIALS

    Long Line: Webbing polypropylene.

Care: The long line  can be rinsed in cold water. For tougher dirt hand wash in warm soapy water and hang to dry.

    Hardware: Solid brass

Care: Solid brass is a natural product and will develop a patina over time, which is part of its charm. We recommend using a commercial brass polish cream, taking care to avoid the leather and it will look as good as new.

Always rinse after exposure to salt water as this will affect the trigger mechanism in the swivel hook. Use a silicone spray like CRC to prevent the hook from seizing or failing.

    Tab : Leather

Care: Using a leather conditioner will keep the leather in tip-top shape.

    Not suitable for machine wash.

    SAFETY

Always pay attention to your dog and their surroundings and avoid using long lines around large groups of dogs and people.

Long lines can still get stuck if a dog goes around and around a tree trunk for example. Also keep an eye out for human legs as any long line has the potential to burn if whipped around an ankle at speed.

“I use our long line with Scout nearly every day! It matches her collar and looks so stylish. It’s a must for her, as she loves chasing cyclists (especially those in hi-vis). It lets us play in the park, knowing we have her under control.”

THE STORY BEHIND OUR LONG LINE

Subwoofer began with Monkey—a tiny black-and-tan bandito who stole my heart mid-pandemic. Like most dog people, I wanted only the best for her, but nothing quite got it right.

Our long lines came later, thanks to a happy accident. We had thousands of metres of our signature webbing woven, only to discover it was too light for our collars and leads. But that same lightness made it just right for a long line: less weight in your hand and less drag on your dog.

And so, what began as a problem became a lightweight long line designed to work beautifully—and match the rest of your Subwoofer set.

Made in New Zealand in small batches, with materials and craftsmanship we’re proud of.

    FAQs

WHAT IS A LONG LINE AND WHEN SHOULD I USE IT?

A long line is an extra-long lead that gives your dog more freedom while keeping them safely connected to you. They're ideal for recall training, sniff walks and dogs that aren't quite ready for full off-lead freedom. Whether you're at the beach, in the park or relaxing at a picnic, a long line gives your dog room to explore while giving you peace of mind.

Our long line is 7 metres long, which we've found offers the ideal balance between freedom and practicality. It's long enough for your dog to roam naturally, without becoming difficult to manage.

IS A LONG LINE RIGHT FOR MY DOG?

Our long line is suitable for most small, medium and large dogs. We don't recommend it for toy breeds, as the 7-metre length and leather attachment section are simply too much for very small dogs.

Long lines are ideal for recall training, sniff walks and giving dogs more freedom while remaining safely connected to you.

If you're unsure whether a long line is the right choice for your dog, we're always happy to help.

WHAT MAKES SUBWOOFER LONG LINES DIFFERENT?

Our long line uses a lighter version of our signature polypropylene webbing, keeping seven metres manageable for both you and your dog. It’s handle-free at the trailing end, quick-drying, fade-resistant and easy to wash after muddy or sandy adventures.

Unlike the plain black lines and ropes typically used for recall training, our exclusive woven stripes coordinate beautifully with the rest of your Subwoofer walkwear. Each one is made in New Zealand and finished with solid-brass hardware.

WHY DO SUBWOOFER LONG LINES COST MORE?

Why does your long line cost more?

Each long line is made in New Zealand from seven metres of webbing woven exclusively for us, then finished with solid-brass hardware and quadruple stitching at key stress points. Custom materials, small-batch production and skilled local craftsmanship genuinely cost more.

Our signature stripes also coordinate with your Subwoofer collar and lead—because practical training gear doesn’t have to be the odd one out.

IS A LONG LINE SAFE TO USE ANYWHERE?

No. Long lines are best used under close supervision in open spaces, away from roads, crowds and groups of dogs. Watch for trees, posts and people’s legs—a dog circling an obstacle can cause the line to tangle, while a fast-moving line can cause friction burns. Never wrap the line around your hand or body.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SWIVEL HOOK FAILS?

The swivel hook is the hardest-working part of any lead and contains a small moving spring that can wear over time. If the clasp no longer snaps firmly shut, stop using the lead and contact us.

Wherever practical, we’ll replace the hook and repair your lead rather than discard an otherwise perfectly good product. We’ll assess each case individually, taking into account normal use, wear and how the lead or long line has been cared for.

WHAT DOES THE 1 YEAR LONG LINE GUARANTEE COVER?

Our one-year guarantee covers manufacturing faults in the webbing, stitching and hardware. If something fails despite normal use and proper care, get in touch and we’ll assess it for repair or replacement.

The guarantee doesn’t cover chewing, cuts, ordinary wear or damage caused by improper care. If your swivel hook fails outside the guarantee, contact us anyway—wherever practical, we’ll repair the lead rather than replace it.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY LONG LINE?

The easiest way to clean your long line is to hose it down with fresh water or rinse it in the shower. For tougher mud, hand wash it with a mild detergent. Once clean, loop it loosely over a shower rail or washing line and allow it to air-dry.

Never put your long line in the washing machine. Seven metres of webbing can quickly become tangled, and machine washing can damage the leather and hardware. Never tumble dry it either—high heat can damage polypropylene and turn the line into a hot, tangled knot.

After every beach or salt-water adventure, rinse the brass hook thoroughly with fresh water. Once dry, occasionally apply a light spray of CRC or a similar lubricant to the clasp’s spring mechanism. Open and close it a few times, then wipe away any excess.
