    Collar: Marine-grade polypropylene webbing — strong, soft, fast-drying

    Care: Hand wash in warm soapy water and hang to dry. Suitable for occasional machine washing — just pop it in a delicates bag to protect the hardware and your washing machine. The leather tab may soften and lighten slightly over time.

    SAFETY

    Our collars are designed for quick, easy removal — which we recommend when dogs are indoors, crated, unsupervised, or wrestling with friends.

    While the silent tag removes one hazard, collars can still catch on things you’d never expect: a roller blind chain, a floorboard nail, even another dog’s tooth. If they can’t free themselves, it can become dangerous fast. Always keep an eye on your dog — and when in doubt, take it off.

    Woven just for us using marine-grade Spanish polypropylene yarn — the same used on yachts. It doesn’t absorb water like nylon, so it dries faster, resists mildew, and won’t trap smells. Lighter, softer, and built for harsh conditions. A quick wash, and it’s back to new.

    Our hardware is solid brass — cut, stamped, and polished in New Zealand using our own registered design. It won’t rust, and thanks to a special finish, it holds its patina without polishing or marking light fur.

    THE STORY BEHIND OUR COLLAR

    Subwoofer began with Monkey — a tiny black-and-tan bandito who stole my heart mid-pandemic. Like most dog people, I wanted only the best for her. But no collar quite got it right. One was stylish but seized at the beach. Another was beautiful but fiddly. One was practical — but lacked personality.

    So I designed my own — blending what worked, leaving what didn’t, and elevating the rest. Crafted with precision, inspired by vintage timepieces, and finished with restraint, the result is a collar that rethinks the ordinary. While most stick to the same old buckle-and-prong or plastic click-and-squeeze, this is a considered departure — a design that feels as good as it looks. A talking piece, not a compromise. Exceptional by design, not by accident.

    Every detail was reconsidered from the dog’s point of view: no rough seams, no thick folds, nothing to rub the wrong way. The clasp is secure but quick to release — ideal for dogs like Monkey, who don’t wear collars indoors. On and off is effortless. The webbing is strong but smooth. Every material was tested for comfort, durability, and all-day wear. Each one is made here in New Zealand, in small batches, with materials and craftsmanship we’re proud of — and Monkey has worn every version. She’s the reason it had to be better.

    WHAT SIGNATURE STRIPE WILL SUIT MY DOG?

    We suggest a coat colour match at the top of each page to help narrow it down — but of course, it’s just a starting point. The best choice is the one you love on your dog.

    WILL IT SURVIVE A SWAMPY PACK WALK?

    Yes — just place it in a washing bag and machine wash with similar colours. The webbing handles it beautifully. The leather tab prefers less frequent washing — once a month is plenty. For heavy wear, consider rotating collars: one for everyday, one for best.

    WHAT MAKES YOUR WEBBING SO GREAT?

    It’s exclusive to Subwoofer — marine-grade, UV-stable, and built to outlast nylon or leather. It won’t fade, fray, stretch, or soak up smells. Lighter, softer, and tougher by design, it’s easy to clean and made to go the distance. We guarantee it won’t fade, fray, or fail for at least five years.

    WHY DOES HAND ENGRAVING MATTER?

    Because lasers just don’t cut it. Our Master Engraver carves each tag by hand with wider, deeper lettering that won’t fade or rub off. It’s an old-school craft that suits our solid 2mm tags, with enough room for bold, easy-to-read lettering on both sides. Optional, but worth it for charm and clarity.
