One of the highlights of New Zealand Fashion Week 2025 was a very special runway event supporting Greyhounds as Pets NZ and their mission to find loving homes for retired racers. In collaboration with Animates, the show brought together local designers who created custom looks for the greyhounds — complete with coordinated collars and leads.
We were proud to donate Subwoofer collars and leads for the dogs to wear on the runway. Our Sand Red Piha Collar and Lead were showcased on Sam the Greyhound, who walked for both Sylvester and Karen Walker. Seeing Sam step out in Subwoofer stripes was a moment we won’t forget.
Even without a name-check, Subwoofer was there in spirit (and in style) — our pieces front and centre in coverage that reached the front page of The Weekend Herald and ran on One Network News. For us, the real reward was knowing that our design work could help shine a spotlight on greyhound rehoming and raise awareness of the many dogs soon to be looking for forever homes.
As the government’s decision to phase out greyhound racing over the next two years takes effect, thousands of greyhounds will be making the transition from the track to the couch. We’re glad Subwoofer could contribute, in a small way, to this moment of visibility — and we’ll continue to support these dogs through thoughtful design, with our new Martingale Collar prototype now finalised and set to launch soon.
